Career-Bridge Recruitment is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor/ SQS to become part of a forward-thinking and driven construction team in Barnstaple. Following ongoing success and expansion, this permanent full-time role offers the chance to work on a prestigious £5m project involving both high-end new builds and complex refurbishments.
In this role, you’ll take ownership of commercial activities from procurement through to final accounts. You’ll play a key part in supporting project delivery, maintaining financial control, and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
Duties
- Leading commercial management across all phases of the project.
- Partnering with Health & Safety professionals to foster a safe working environment.
- Building strong relationships with clients, supply chain partners, and internal teams.
- Supporting and mentoring junior colleagues to aid their professional development.
- Managing tenders, negotiating contracts, and drafting subcontractor agreements.
- Handling subcontractor payments, variations, and final account settlements.
- Preparing detailed cost and value reports for the leadership team.
- Submitting payment applications in line with contractual terms.
- Overseeing change management and ensuring contract obligations are met.
- Forecasting and tracking project cash flow.
- Identifying risks and ensuring technical and commercial compliance throughout.
You will need
- Demonstrated experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior QS, ideally with a main contractor.
- A track record of delivering projects valued up to £5m.
- Commercially savvy with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong communicator and natural leader with excellent organisational skills.
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.
