Career-Bridge Recruitment is collaborating with a respected and award-winning residential property developer headquartered in Exeter. They are looking to welcome an experienced Quantity Surveyor to their growing team, responsible for the financial oversight of housing projects from the planning phase through to final delivery.
This is a permanent, full-time opportunity (37.5 hours per week), offering a strong emphasis on maintaining a positive work-life balance.
Duties:
- Take charge of the financial planning and management of residential building projects, ensuring quality remains high while costs are controlled.
- Handle procurement processes, assess subcontractor bids, and support both on-site and office-based commercial teams.
- Develop and implement efficient purchasing strategies to boost value across projects.
- Conduct site measurements and work valuations, using both drawings and on-site inspections.
- Oversee tendering procedures and evaluate quotes from subcontractors.
- Contribute to the preparation of pricing documents and system-generated Bills of Quantities.
- Negotiate and formalize any variations or client-led changes.
- Certify subcontractor work for payment and ensure timely account settlements.
- Prepare internal site valuations and track costs versus value in line with agreed project timelines.
- Compile both interim and final budgets and appraisals for developments.
- Provide accurate cost breakdowns for all aspects of site delivery.
You will need:
- Demonstrated track record working in a Quantity Surveyor capacity within the housing development sector.
- Holds relevant qualifications in construction or surveying.
- Capable of managing deadlines and workload in a busy project-driven environment.
- In-depth knowledge of construction techniques and building materials.
- Proficient in MS Office; experience with COINS software is a plus.
