Career-Bridge Recruitment are working with a privately-owned house builder who are seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Exeter.

Duties
- Assisting in sourcing and managing subcontractor tender packages.
- Coordinating subcontractor agreements, including orders and payment schedules.
- Supporting cost assessments for system-based quantity measurements.
- Reviewing and negotiating changes and instructions.
- Handling subcontractor invoices, including regular payments for bricklayers.
- Conducting site visits to assess and document construction progress.
- Contributing to internal valuation reports.
- Aiding Quantity Surveyors in site analysis and financial evaluations.
- Assisting in compiling and approving supplier and subcontractor enquiry lists.
- Preparing and organising tender documentation, ensuring compliance, analyzing returned tenders, and securing valid bids.
- Creating tender comparison reports, recommending subcontractor selections, and negotiating to align with specifications and industry standards.
- Ensuring subcontractors are registered in COINS and have up-to-date certification.
- Performing ad hoc measurements and material take-offs from drawings.
- Reviewing and verifying subcontractor payment applications, preparing interim payments per approval protocols, updating payment records, tracking additional costs, and settling final accounts efficiently.
- Issuing variations and contra charges where applicable.
- Completing monthly progress assessments and entering data into valuation systems.
- Attending relevant meetings as required.
You will need
- Experience of building construction in a quantity surveying or project managing role.
- Construction industry related qualifications.
- Good knowledge of relevant Health & Safety requirements in the industry.
- Ability to prioritise workload, and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of construction techniques and materials.
- Flexible with the ability to solve problems and find solutions.
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of COINS an advantage.
- CSCS card
- Full UK Driving Licence.
