Career-Bridge Recruitment is partnering with a reputable mechanical and electrical contractor based in Plymouth in their search for an experienced Financial Controller. This role involves overseeing the financial operations critical to the construction sector, including accounting, budgeting, financial planning, and project-based financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, purchasing, sales invoicing, and financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and industry standards, especially those relevant to construction and contracting.
- Prepare and present detailed financial statements, reports, and projections to support company growth and strategic objectives.
- Develop and enforce financial policies and procedures tailored to construction project requirements.
- Monitor cash flow, assess budget variances, and review financial performance, ensuring accurate project-based tracking.
- Coordinate external audits and tax submissions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Implement cost control initiatives and identify areas for cost reduction and process improvement.
- Analyze and mitigate financial risks specific to the construction industry, ensuring project financial stability.
- Provide financial analysis, insights, and recommendations to support the management team in strategic planning.
- Support procurement with accurate purchasing and payment processes; maintain oversight of credit control, banking, and budgeting.
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience in finance or accounting, ideally within the construction, contracting, or M&E sectors.
- Strong understanding of financial operations in a project-driven environment.
- Availability for an office-based role in Plymouth.
