Career-Bridge Recruitment are working with a national housebuilder who are looking for a hands-on Assistant Site Manager to join their construction team based in Exeter. Helping them deliver high-quality homes. Working alongside the Site Manager, you’ll play a key role in managing the day-to-day running of the site.

Duties
- Assisting the Site Manager to oversee all activity on site, ensuring homes are built to specification, within budget, and delivered on schedule.
- Carrying out regular site inspections to check workmanship, safety standards, and compliance with our internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Liaising with third parties such as utility providers, building control officers, warranty inspectors, and local authorities to keep the project running smoothly.
- Keeping clear, up-to-date records, including inductions, daily diaries, incident logs, timesheets and quality control reports.
- Making sure materials arrive when needed, are checked properly, and stored safely onsite.
- Overseeing subcontractors and trades, ensuring work is completed to the required quality and timescales.
- Working closely with other teams, including Sales and Customer Care, to keep communication open and ensure customers get timely updates and any issues are resolved quickly.
- Ensuring everyone on site — including visitors — follows health, safety and environmental rules, and promoting a culture where safety comes first.
What you will need
- To be successful in this role, you’ll need hands-on experience in housebuilding or residential construction,
- Previous experience working on residential developments, ideally with a housebuilder or residential contractor.
- A strong understanding of NHBC, LABC or Premier warranty requirements.
- Solid knowledge of health and safety rules in construction.
- A valid CSCS card (essential).
- SMSTS qualification (desirable but not essential).
- Full UK driving license.
- An NVQ Level 4 in Construction Site Supervision would be ideal, but we’re happy to support you in working towards this if needed.
